Hey, I'm not sure if this is posted anywhere else, but with my laptop (spec's below) I can see that my home network is there but windows fails to connect to it. I've been though the troubleshooter but nothing seems to work. Now the reason why I know this network works is because my mother and sisters laptop works fine on the network.

Also I does sometimes work. If I'm in the same room as router is seems to work fine. But when I'm in the other end of the house it fails to connect even though windows says it has 3-4 bars of the wifi signal.

Also on a less important note, when if actually connects the bars on the taskbar only shows it full wifi signal even it it only has 3 or 4.. any one know a solution?

Any feed back would be very helpful.

Thanks Trent

What it comes to is I believe you need to update the drivers for your wifi device.
Now there are updates for all three of the possibilities, but we really need to know which one you have.
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download K53E
it would be one of the items under wireless there.

I can't be certain based on the current information I have.
That laptop did come with bluetooth support, but it was an optional feature.
Kind of a coin toss as to whether yours has it or not.
If it doesn't attempting to install the driver should just result in an error message.

The only other thing that comes to mind is security/av software interfering.
The only thing that would be a sure fire check of that would be to temporarily remove said software and reboot the system.

It seems like it could be a good idea to check for interference from neighbor's WiFi networks. I'd install InSSIDer, and change the channel on your router if there are competing networks.

Also may be worth playing with the orientation of the antenna on your router, if it has one, to see if it improves your reception.

I am having this same EXACT problem with the same laptop. I am in the US. It is so frustrating because i can't imagine with the issue is. My drivers are up to date. Other wireless devices are able to connect just fine. I do get an error message telling me there is an issue with my modem (Ubee) but the modem must be fine if it works for the other laptops in the house. Asus says I need to send the unit in to them but I have a gut feeling this is a small issue that I'm over looking. Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I actually had a smartphone that was doing this. It turned out the wifi itself was bad.
Replacement phone fixed the problem.
