Today we released an exciting update to Windows PC Scout I think people looking for new Windows PCs will really enjoy.

But first, let me talk a little bit about Windows PC Scout.

Sometimes finding the right Windows PC can be hard. To help people out, we have created Windows PC Scout. Windows PC Scout is an “interactive guide” designed to help people choose the right Windows PC for them based on specific needs or requirements they might have. Windows PC Scout does this by educating people on all the important aspects of a PC in simple and easy to understand terms. A few simple questions are asked in order to figure out how a person is going to use their new PC. Windows PC Scout then uses these answers to develop a personalized recommendation which is matched against PCs chosen by Windows PC experts here at Microsoft. Once a PC is chosen, you are given a “technical cheat sheet” for that PC, can view detailed images (12 images) of the PC, and link to buy from popular retailers.

We wanted the rich interactive experience of Windows PC Scout to be like walking into a store and getting to check out a Windows PC in person. Today, we’re talking that interactive experience to a new level by introducing HD Zooming. HD Zooming is powered by Seadragon Technology from Microsoft Live Labs.

As I mentioned above, each PC on Windows PC Scout has 12 different photos of the PC. With HD Zooming, you can now zoom in to see the important details like ports and design styles. As you can see in the above screenshot, I am zoomed in to the left side of a Dell Studio XPS 16 where I can see the fine details of the ports. With HD Zooming, we’re allowing customers to have a much richer and interactive experience with PCs online as they search for one to buy.

If you’re in the market for a new Windows PC, I suggest stopping by Windows PC Scout to find a PC just for you.
