windows photo viewer automatically tiles image

I just downloaded 160 pictures out of my Sony camera into Windows Photo Viewer. After they were in my computer all of a sudden a bunch of them were systematically converted to a 16 image tile view of the original picture. After about 20 of them were converted by the program I had enough sense to close the program before they were all done in. Now whenever I open Windows Photo Viewer all images are displayed in the tiling format. Also in Paint they were displayed the same way. How do I prevent this and how do I repair the pictures that were damaged by the program?

This could be a malware. Did you full scan your system? Use Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware download and report back.

If the images have permanently been modified, then the only way is to get them back from your cam memory. I suggest not hooking up the camera with your PC until this problem is resolved. That could damage all your photos.
