Solved Windows Photo Viewer is sometimes slow to load (but not always)

The experiment I did:

1. Copy a moderately sized (400-500kb) jpg image on desktop (from some other location i.e. folder/web etc.).

2. Double Click the file (it will load pretty fast in Win Photo Viewer).

3. Now close Windows Photo Viewer, double click the file again (This time, it will take about 2-3 seconds to load).

Has anyone else experienced similar issues? I am running a Dell Inspiron15r with 512MB AMD Raedon Card installed.

It could be lots of reasons..... Try looking at the task manager process...to see whats causing the delay.... You will see some king of CPU spike when this happens ......it could well be the AV thats scanning the pic while phtoviewer is using it...

I did the test again this morning. Seems that it happens only when I close the photo-viewer and then again open the file quickly. The CPU spikes are moderate. There are sometimes secondary spikes after closing the photoviwer, so I'll assume the photoviewer takes a while to shut down completely. I guess its ideal to start photoviewer only once and then either use the back/forward button or start a slideshow.

Nice to see one bug fixed from moving from XP to 7: When I come out of the slideshow, I get the last picture displayed in the Photo Viewer as expected, not the picture where I started the slideshow from.
