Hello,

I'm having a serious PITA with windows photo viewer. NOTHING will load in it without the "you don't have proper permissions to access file loc" message. Same pictures load fine when right click open w/ office or any other program.

I've already set myself to the owner and have granted permissions so I am really at a loss.

Any ideas please!

Hi

Thanks for the reply - I was pretty frustrated last night and realized I left out a couple things. First this is a clean install, (ie two days ago) and I can't even access the stock photos that come with the comp. Second I already switched ownership and permissions to my administrator account (the only account) on the pictures. I can right click the picture (any picture) and open it just fine with Office/Paint/whatever so is the problem with my Windows Photo Viewer???

Thanks much for the help so far

Hi

Thanks for the update. Could you try setting up a limited account (standard account and check whether the issue persists under the standard account?

Regards

Thanks very much for taking the time to read and help out!

As far as the hotfix I don't believe it applies because I only have the one account logged in at any given time.

I tried a standard account and was able to view all pictures in Windows Photo Viewer with no problem. Easy fix... BUT I would prefer just run one account than have a separate administrator, but if that is the only way to make it work then I guess I don't have much of a choice.

Any thoughts?

Hi

Understood on single account but I'm guessing it could be because of the admin rights re lockup.
You could try the hotfix for a single account but be sure to create a system restore point before applying the fix.

Keep us posted and hope things work out
