windows picture viewer is pretty ****ty.

You can't scroll up and down on images if you want the image to display in its actual size.

Plus, you can't have it so the image is its real size by default so you're constantly hitting the "resize" button.

Plus it doesn't display the animations on .gif files

Any alternative that's better

IrfanView is my tried and true favorite. Also a very nice one - FastPicture Viewer.
 
Fast Stone viewer is an excellent free alternative. I like it better than Ifran View. It is well worth a try.
