Windows saying "Network Security Key Mismatch" when trying to connect

Recently, I built a new PC. Everything was working fine, no issues whatsoever until one day I find that my internet is playing up. It started off as just being generally slow, only loading specific sites and a yellow triangle would apear over the WiFi icon and then I couldn't get any connection at all. My internet would switch from fine to having all these issues every few minutes so I decided to look into it, tried a few solutions and none of them worked. Worst of all however, is when attempting the final fix ( entering netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt) and then restarting. The PC restarted fine no issues but then there was no change in the WiFi issue. I then went into network and sharing centre and deleted my wireless network profile, tried to reconnect and was met with the message "Network Security Key Mismatch". I can't get past this screen and I am 100% sure that the security key is correct. I have tried manually creating a WiFi profile but this just causes it to attempt to connect but then it just fails.

Just having built my new PC this is very frustrating as I am unable to download any games or anything else for that matter. The fact that my internet would work periodically is what cofuses me most.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Hi Doom,

Sounds like your main problem is your Wifi drivers.

First Action reset your router

Goto device Manager select Network adapters any problem showing??

as its a custom build your Ethernet drivers should have come with the motherboard CD,
If you have an ethernet cable use that to start with it should >> autodetect and connect << to your network ISP (Virgin/sky/bt/talktalk).
Then got to the Wifi Adapter, and update the drivers from there.

Your network key & code should be something like
SSID SKY123456 security code abcdefgh

Hi,

We have at least 5 other devices all connected to the WiFi pretty much all day and the internet was working on my PC earlier today.

Also, Torchwood's suggestion sounds promising so I'll check that out tomorrow.

Thanks.

Hi,

I looked in device manager and noticed that my Ethernet is marked as a PCIe card and not an on-board device ( my Ethernet built into the mobo) maybe this could have something to do with the issue.

Thanks

EDIT: I tried updating the drivers and it says that i already have the best drivers. Any solution?

can you check the code that the comp is using, and security type.

Controlpanel>>network>> local area connection> status > properties> security >> show hidden characters.

It should show WPA2 personel encryption AES.
