Guys have you got any idea why this error "windows setup could not configure windows to run on this computer's hardware" shows up when installing 7 on my Comp? It comes up when the installer reaches the final stage of installation where it says , "Completing installation".
I have purchased this darn Ultimate edition of 7 for 464 bucks from the local stores.
i have Satellite A300 PSAGCA - 03C010 Toshiba P8400 Notebook.
4Gb Ram
2.27Ghz Core2Duo
Windows vista ultimate x64 and home premium x86....the 7 edition is x86.
Service pack 2
.......It works well on my other comp that runs home basic, and it's compaq 1.86Ghz.
i dont' know what's wrong with mine.

Are you trying to in-place Upgrade from Vista? If so, try backing up your files, boot the DVD to do a formatted clean install.

Check on its Support Downloads page that your Toshiba has the latest BIOS version.

Try setting SATA controller at AHCI to start, then IDE.

Use WIndows Memory Diagnostics to test RAM, then remove all but 2gb of RAM to try again. Switch RAM sticks if this fails.

If you paid $464 for ultimate you were robbed by retailer at least 200%. I would take it back and get a retail Upgrade Ultimate version for 1/3 of that price at BestBuy or NewEgg.

Act soon, the retailers are trying to get rid of end of year inventory, at bargain prices.

Dude.....my other laptop.....it works well on that one..so i took out it's 1 Gb ram and the other 512Mb ram....i removed this 2gb and 2gb Ram from this crap, and replaced it with the 1gb and 512 Mb Ram hoping it will work...when i replaced my other laptop's(the one with 7 installed) with the 2gb and 2gb from that 1.50Gb Ram....it crashed, from that i can only assume that one of the ram is faulty or may have a problem.....so now i put this one with 1.50Gb ram hoping this time THIS current windows ultimate laptop will work...
I have an updated BIOS 2.10.
But the problem still exists....
the other 1 difference between the problem i am encountering with this 1 and the one on the other....
the problem is, the other laptop that i successfully installed Windows 7 showed me the amount of memory being processed during the installation, this numbers appeared on the bottom of the installer....<this is what i saw when i 1st installed in on the other laptop....
now for this one, there is nothing that it shows except the normal as is the % numbers....is that something that may be the problem or what?
"Windows setup could not configure windows to run on this computer's hardware"....<this error still exists and it always shows up after the final moment where the pc display monitor shuts off and back onn under just 1 second period.

Did you check the exact specs of the RAM to confirm it works in the other laptop?

Test your RAM by putting the RAM back in it's correct machine, running Windows Memory Diagnostic test. If errors, use memtest86 CD to stress test RAM overnight.

Try installing with one stick and then the other, by process of elmination.

This is not a "solution" but the beginning of troubleshooting checklist for these install failures.

You begin by Googling the exact error wording and becoming so familar with the results that you can quote them like we do.

You did not reply what your SATA controller is set to in BIOS, or BIOS version update? Enable Plug N Play in BIOS.

Try clearing the CMOS next: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/tp/clearcmos.htm

I have BIOS version 2.10, i didn't get this bios by exact model because i couldn't find mine in the toshiba website.
the toshiba website has PSAGCE, but my model is PSAGCA.
I think mine is the Australian model....
Lol, i don't have Plug N play in my bios and i am just Curious about my bios version may not be for my model....what do you think?
I looked for it in the internet but i couldn't find it...
i don't have plug n play...

My sata controller is set to AHCI. There is only 2 of this options in the Sata controller, AHCI and Compatibility which ofcourse crashes my computer so i always have to keep the sata set to AHCI, compatibility crashes my computer at boot. And lol, i still did try installing the 7 with compatibility mode set onn from boot, and dvd install even from boot but NOP!the same problem still exists!!!

Dude i also tried to run the Toshiba Upgrade assistance that i downloaded from the microsoft website but the problem is, when the program is running, at the middle of the program it shows this message "this model does not support upgrade to windows 7".....i bought my model at 2009, and i believe that if mine pc is old then it would have been manufactured at 2007..why wouldn't it still work?? i went to the store and they told me that it should work on a 2.27 Ghz model....

i don know..

If you bought your laptop in 2009, you may still be covered under 1 year tech support to find out some answers: support for newer BIOS version, correct model number (determined by your Serial Number), pointers on getting Win7 on there.

Did you try Clearing the CMOS using tutorial linked above?

i paid for an extended 2 year support, so i have a 3 year warranty and support. I cleared the CMOS and it still doesn't work.
I went and asked the store that gave me the comp(previously) and they told me that i shouldn't be having any compatibility issues with 7 for my tech of computer.
i have no idea what else i could do.

If you have Tech Support then use it. You paid for it.

They should help you find out why Win7 won't install.

If not, what did you pay for?

You don't need a warranty return or service request, just plain old telephone tech support to help you work through the issues.

Use it repeatedly until you get the questions answered which were asked here, and enough advice to find out what must be done to get Windows 7 installed.

they wouldn't help with illegal copies of windows. they told me that if i buy the real version then it should work well. I don't believe that
