I am also running W7 on my 901 without any problems other than the black screen.
You can shut the lid and re open it (or as i do, just hit the power button), you can get a script running that changes the screen resolution as windows boots up but you have to have auto login enabled. There are also a few hacked bios's that get around the problem, some people are using them but i had a problem when i tired so i just put up with the black screen for now.
The only driver i needed to download was the Asus ACPI driver, everything else worked after first boot. Even WiFi.
I found that my total install space for 7201 was around 9GB, and thats with Avast loaded.
Ive put my temp folders on the old 4GB SSD.
