hi guys i need some help. i'm almost pretty sure it has something to do with my graphics card i just can't pinpoint what exactly the problem is. my computer shuts down while playing a game for around 10-20mins. i have 2k11, warcraft and civ5 installed. my pc has been running smoothly until i experienced the first shutdown while playing 2k11 and ever since everytime i run a game it shuts down after 10-20mins. i then upgraded from windows xp to windows 7 (i did a fresh install, erased everything on my hd) and it was running smoothly again. just yesterday while playing 2k11 i noticed that my pc was running slow, did an alt+tab closed a couple of programs from the taskbar and when i returned to the game after just a few secs it shut down again and the problem returned. can somebody help me find a fix or try to figure out if it's the graphic card or what? thanks

i filled out the system specs list hope that helps

After experiencing problems on not one but two OSs, I would say it may also be a problem with the game itself more than the actual GPU. Are there any patches for the game and do you have them installed?

Do you have the latest driver from Nvidia for your graphics card and operating system installed?

If not please get the latest from their website , remove the old driver and then install the new one.

Hi

I do not know if it will help, but back in my old abit usa mobo forum days, some folks would have odd shut down probs we could never figure out, they would try everything, even buy some new hardware. Come to fine out it was the cmos battery. I have never had probs with them knock on wood and have used same systems for like 5 years, but I think the batteries real life is up to 3 years- tho some can last longer- so can some last less as long.

Depends on where you buy them- they can cost like 18 bucks. I would not buy a cheap one but you can get them at a drug store where you buy hearing aid or watch batteries etc. Get a name brand one tho- duracell what ever.

Your system looks like it might be a few years old- maybe the cmos battery will fix ya up. You might have to set up your bios defaults again. Copy down some info in bios if need be. Be sure to power off your system unplug everything from the wall- maybe push in and hold your power on button for like 20 secs to drain the caps etc. then remove the battery- take it with ya to the store- get one just like it or use the lil book what ever for cross over brands etc that match it..

Hope you get it going right.. See ya..

I have never seen that vid card is that a lap top? If so might just have probs with it- more so with w7 versus xp maybe. Is that built into mobo video- I never really read to much good about them. Your 94 should be about the same as my 8800 vid card- tho mine is a stand alone. I guess built in stuff share's memory- w7 might not like that and if have back ground stuff running while trying to game might like it less..

Hope you get it going ok- See ya..

You can try checking the Ram modules running Win 7's built in standard test. Also it might be a good idea to take note of your processor's temp (use core temp). I saw the exact same problem happening because of high core temp.
