Trying to help a friend figure out why when she re-sizes her windows they don't stay. Seems like when you size a window and then close it it will open full size. All programs do this so it is baffling me.

any thoughts on what to check?

This has been a bug with windows, for a while. The best solution, is to extend it to full size, then make it full size. After a while the windows will open, as if they were full sized. There have been other threads like this, with no real solution.

Be ready for many, many suggestions. I have seen this before.

Mine doesn't do this. It remembers the size it was when last opened.

You should be able to drag the window to the size you want, click the Maximize box a few times and it will program it.

Doesn't always work in Win7. I use AutoSizer to make it stay since paste makes the screen hard to read.

Thanks for the replies so far.
The issue is not so much related to windows not going full size but rather not staying shrunk.
After speaking with the person I am trying to help I got some further clarification on the issue(like getting info from a small child most times ;)). Seems this issue is more prevalent when she is running Live mail. She runs the main program in a full window but when she clicks on new or reply, the new or reply window always opens up in a full window no matter how she re-sizes it.
On my systems both running live mail my windows will stay the way I re-size them.

The issue is not as old as Windows.

It worked in XP unless you got a glitch and there were some methods to try get it to remember, (I wont list them).

In Vista it was broken until the fix in the tutorials here fixed it (they left XP code that basically did nothing in Vista by mistake).

In Win 7 is is removed and its a joke but here : http://www.sevenforums.com/customiz...rfix-manage-folder-window-positions-size.html

Huh, Are you replying to this thread or made a mistake ?

I follow you meant "Desktop" but what is the rest of it got to do with resizing windows ?
