Windows Sticky Notes Grrr

So My wife and I have the exact same laptops running Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit..

On my wifes comp everytime she logs into Windows she is unhappily greeted with a blank sticky note. And I cannot stop it from happening....

I consider myself relatively computer savy but this has me beat. Even tried 3rd party software to disable it, but it still pops up. She doesn't want me to remove it from her computer as she uses it occasionally, but would prefer to CHOOSE whether to use it or not!

Please tell me how to stop this annoying thing popping up everytime she logs in!

Go to Start and type msconfig in the box then right mouse on it in the upper screen and run as admin. You will see a series of tabs in the frame and one is startup, look there to see if Sticky Notes is set to load when the PC comes up if so uncheck it and the next boot it will no longer be an issue.

lol

I've tried all that, it's not listed as a program to run on startup, used Revo uninstaller to hide it as well, but it keeps overiding it, instantly.....

Have you tried AutoRuns from SysInternals?
http://download.sysinternals.com/Files/Autoruns.zip

This utility, which has the most comprehensive knowledge of auto-starting locations of any startup monitor, shows you what programs are configured to run during system bootup or login, and shows you the entries in the order Windows processes them. These programs include ones in your startup folder, Run, RunOnce, and other Registry keys. You can configure Autoruns to show other locations, including Explorer shell extensions, toolbars, browser helper objects, Winlogon notifications, auto-start services, and much more. Autoruns goes way beyond the MSConfig utility bundled with Windows Me and XP.

Is that not a kind of "run at windows start up" checked box in the option of one program?

It had happen to me on another machine, I checked a box like that in Vista Calendar or the Windows Mail in Vista to allow the Calendar to show and now i'm unable to find again that damn box to uncheck!

johngalt..The sticky notes isn't on that list :(

Loki..As useful as that program is, I really don't want to use 3rd party software to resolve this, I shouldn't need to. On my comp running the exact same platform, on the exact same type of machine, it doesn't run on startup :(

Does anyone know the registry entries for sticky notes? Maybe I could change a value and disable it from running without consent. This is really starting to p*** me off now!

neo101.. That's only to disable the 'do you really want to delete this' message :(

Legend Loki, thankyou!
My computer doesn't have that registry entry, my wifes(the problem one) does....I last resorted and deleted the entry, ensured there were no notes open, or saved. Upon startup a blank note popped up, and the entry had returned

She's said meh don't worry about it, but being male, I HAVE to resolve this! lol

I have exactly the same problem. It doesn't exist in the admin user, however once the sticky note exe had been opened on a limited user account, it launches at startup every time.

Not listed in startup under msconfig, reg key removed - it reappears on restart, no utilities running to restore startup list.

If you're not finding it in startup or your registry, try deleting StickyNotes.snt from AppData\Microsoft\Sticky Notes. Once I toasted that, the problem went away for me.

Be aware that if you do this, you will lose any data you've entered into Sticky Notes up until this point, but if you're trying to kill it, that's generally not an issue.
