windows stoping at random points help needed please

If it pauses in Windows XP, Vista, 7, and in Linux, it is hardware. There is no way around it.

It may be your hard drive, hard drive controller, memory, or CPU. It works in safe mode because safe mode does not load all drivers for these devices. Run HD Diagnostic as that is the most likely failing component to be behaving in the manner you have described. Use that link to find the manufacturer and manufacturer diagnostic for the drive.

Alright, post back how that goes. If it does not help, continue through the following.

Do you have any other PCI devices plugged into the motherboard? Have you borrowed a different keyboard and mouse from a friend to test out? What about a Power Supply Unit (PSU) swap with a friend with one rated to handle your system?

At this point, I would recommend either buying new hardware to swap out, which if I remember correctly, you cannot do, or taking it to a shop and letting them test it. Both will require money and time, and the shop may or may not be less expensive in the long run depending on what is wrong. Either way, this is going to come down to you having to spend money, so you may have to wait until you have the money to spend.

A few things you may be able to do yourself if you have the proper equipment:
  • Change your account so it no longer requires a password: Start Menu -> Control Panel -> User Accounts and Family Safety -> User Accounts. Then run Windows without your mouse and/or without your keyboard. Recommend running not connected to the internet as well for security purposes since you will not have a password.
  • Remove any unnecessary cards from the motherboard, such as network adapter cards, usb cards, display card if you have an onboard display built into the motherboard, etc.
  • Remove any unnecessary drives from the system: cd/dvd drives extra hard drives, etc.
Try each of the above and see

Have you tried the above steps I laid out? What about running with just one stick of the Kingston RAM at a time and trying one slot at a time (you will need to run 32-bit Windows and not 64-bit)?

Avoid Static Damage to Your PC when swapping out RAM.

Are you able to get into device manager to see if there are any driver problems? They show up with yellow exclamation marks if they have problems. You can right click any problem devices -> click properties -> click details -> and get the hardware ID through the property drop-down menu. That should help find any drivers that are missing.

It's possible this is the problem if your motherboard is old enough, but Windows 7 usually finds drivers pretty reliably upon installation.

What motherboard do you have? rc4107ma-8krs2? rc4107ma-8krs2h? rc4107ma-rs2? rc4107ma-rs2h?

It may be that it is too old to work with Windows 7. That is the first time I have encountered that, though.

It also may have needed to have drivers installed in 7 through a different method to work: install XP drivers in Windows 7 and update drivers if possible.

Unfortunately, the XP to 7 upgrade does not keep things intact and is more like a clean install of Windows 7. You are welcome to try it to see, though.
