Yo, second time posting on this forum and I need some help again.

My computer has been going pretty nutty lately, randomly refusing to close programs (dosent work with ALT F4, closing the program or the process), and forcing me to restart my computer to start said program again. Usually happens to World of Warcraft, also happened to Skype a couple of times aswell as Google Chrome.

So.. I try to turn my computer off. Uh, windows is exiting... For up to 30 minutes (that's how long i've waited, kinda got tired of waiting after that), so I just use the reset button or turn it off completely. Now, i'll just start the PC normally to use this program again, right? No, windows is starting.. For another 20-30 minutes, before I give up and restart it again. Eventually after around 4 minutes it decides that hey, something is run so i'll inconsequence-run CHKDSK. It finds a ton of issues every time, I have no idea how or why, but after running CHKDSK (usually on E:, almost never on C: which is where my windows is installed) everything works perfectly fine until a program freezes up again.

Im posting this thread on this part of the forum because it kinda seems to be an issue with one of the HDDs but i might be wrong, so feel free to move it if need be.

Appreciate any help I can get!
Regards
Alex

I think you are on the right track.

The shutdown and startup delays are normally caused by defective hardware or drivers. The trick is in isolating what hardware or driver is causing the problem.

Since you already suspect the hard drive, it would be best to run the hard drive manufacturer's diagnostic program on it. See below for the common ones:

Right, so I need to get an empty disc first then. Will post updates here when after I try to isolate the problem.

If you mean a blank CD writable to burn the programs too, then yes.

Some of them, like the Western Digital one, actually run better from the Windows environment, so you could run that if you have a WD drive.

Found a 1TB HDD laying around, plugged it in and everything is solved. Just going to do that instead, may have wasted 50$ but oh well. /Solved
