Solved Windows suddenly stopped showing the screen of the running programme.

Hi,

This is just a minor thing but I really want to get it fixed.

Recently I bought a new laptop dell xps15 and its windows 7 home premium 64bit.

I really like it and its got some really special function.

For example when you put your mouse cursor on the icon on the taskbar, it shows you the screen of that programme in a small window box.

But now that function is gone. Instead it looks like this:

does anyone know how to fix it?

Any help will be really appreciated.

look like your "aero" theme got disabled.
right click>personalize> and select any of the aero theme

select any of your aero themes.
have you installed any updates? or updated any drivers?.

What I want is for it to look like this :

yes i understand. thats the a feature of the aero theme. the basic theme doesn't have that.

uhm ok wtf its fixed now after the test ( a few blinks)

dammit i wish i can copy and paste but I cant but it says

desktop window manager disabled -detected
colour depth is set too low- fixed and now its fine!

Yeah the second one is that I bought this computer and it has Nvidia GeForce GT540m graphics card (i thinks its optimus)

but on dxdiag>display it says intel HD graphics family.. wtf?

I don't know what is with it but do I not have Nvidia?

PS: on some games such a skyrim and oblivion it detected my computer and said i have Nvidia gefore gt540m but I wonder why it doesn't show up on dxdiag as 540 but as intel HD o.o

hmm i don't know why it would display such. but i don't think it's a problem. you can download CCleaner - Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download & CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting maybe they will show your correct graphics card name. other members may help you identify that problem though cause i'm not sure abt it.
