Hi there,
Recently my computer froze and I had to shut it down by holding the power button, ever since my windows time has been acting very strange. The time is about 7 hours early every time I boot, when I try to sync the time manualy it tells me I don't have administrative rights, which I'm 100% positive I do have.

bf0ee8d6d8.png

That's the error I get, sorry for the dutch but since it doesn't exactly give an error code I doubt it's going to be very helpfull either way.
I have also noticed that the windows time service no longer shows up in the services list, but I have no idea how to manualy start it and even if I did I doubt having to start it manualy every time I boot is the proper way of handling things....

I hope some of you very helpful people can be as helpful to me as I've seen you be to others :) Thanks in advance!

Well I could try but I'd rather use that as a last resort given the fact that the most recent one goes 2 months back and godknowswhat I will lose.

Hi Solution6996,

A System Restore doesnt affect any data you have saved on the laptop. Here is an article that will give you a better understanding of what a System Restore will affect. Hope this helps.

What types of files does System Restore change?

Thanks,
Kevin

(it's not a laptop)
I know what system restores touches and what not but I've customised windows to my preference quite a bit(which would all be undone) in the last month, and it uninstalls al installed software as well, which is quite a lot over the past 2 months.
I've going to just go ahead and do it either way and spend a few hours re-installing and customizing again though, I'll just let you know when it's done :)

Ok, try:
browse to Windows/System32 - run w32time.exe

Two things I can think of.
One is replacing the battery on the motherboard and setting the bios time/date correctly.

Next would to make sure your time zone/date/time is correct in Windows 7.
If these are to far off the auto time will not work. You must set them close and then do the auto time check.

I use (time.windows.com)

***Do you have all needed Windows Updates including SP-1 installed.

sorry for the late reply, I've been on vacation for a while.

Ok, try:
browse to Windows/System32 - run w32time.exe
This doesn't change anything related to my time and if I restart my pc the service has to be manualy restarted again, so sadly this doesn't help much :( Thanks tho!

Erm how would I go about changing a motherboard battery? I've never heard of a motherboard even having one. I'll check to see if the mobo time is correct though
I do have every update installed that I can install :P

Some follow up questions:
- Can you get to date/time screen when you run w32time.exe? (w32time.exe doesn't automatically sync, just starts the service afaik)
- run: w32time.exe /resync and see what happens
- Windows Time service is Manual by default, and stopped
- can you see Windows Time service after running w32time.exe

Your motherboard manual should help with the battery replacement.

Sadly, this didn't work either and those darn batteries weren't easy to get :P

I can't find a w32time.exe anywhere on my pc :P
-EDIT: I can find w32tm.exe which I suppose is what you mean. I can get to this screen at boot either way:

and to
c65480f9fd.jpg

-resyncing does seem to actual sync the clock properly
-after running w32tm the service does show like this:

When I click to start the service I get an acces denied error message :P
