Windows time changes every time I restart

I've installed snow leopard (hackintosh) on a separate partition and since then I've been having trouble with the clock it reads 3 extra hours than the original time
So I deleted Snow Leopard and formatted the partition and checked the time again and no change at all
Any help please

The time displayed is dependent on the time zone you set in the system and whether you have taken things like DST ( Daylight Saving Time ) into account. Many systems run on GMT ( Greenwich Mean Time ). This differs considerably from other time zones and systems.

If you have two separate operating systems installed, and you want them both to display the same time, then you have to set them both up to do so.

You can also setup systems to synchronise with a time server of your choice.

The world time server gives you information on times around the world;

The World Time Server: current local time and date in any zone

and also offers an atomic clock synchroniser.

If the time displayed on your system changes every time you boot the machine, then you have other problems. If this is so we would need to diagnose that more carefully.

Is the time also wrong in your BIOS?

It could be a failure with your CMOS battery.

It could also be that the time zones are different in both operating systems. MS defaults to pacific time zone.

Go to your clock and right click/internet time/sync with internet/update now.
Do this with both operating system after you select the proper time zone.

I had the exact same situation when running Hackintosh. ALL the settings were correct in both operating systems, but the time would change by 3 hours when going from Mac back to Windows. Never resolved it.

My Hackintosh always used to change the system clock to GMT, even though it displayed the correct time zone. A minor annoyance.

Just curious, not sure if this thread is still alive : Same setup here. Has anyone resolved it? (In my case it's exactely 5 hours every time I go from Mac to Windows. If I cold boot Win7 after shutting down from Win 7, time will be ok. But if I went to Mac OS in between, boom! Even though time zone in Windows show correctly. Only way to take it back to correct time: either manual, either click ''update now'' in Internet time (windows). Weird and ... just annoying.

I am running a dual boot Win7/Linux and ran into the same problem. I can confirm that the registry tweak described at this link works to keep the times synced on both OS. Message #3 at this link has the answer.

I installed Ubuntu with my upgraded toshiba satellite to Windows 8 and the same happens, time is Ok with Ubuntu but when I switch to Windows the Clock has changed but not just 3 hrs 8 hrs and everytime I go to date and time change settings, the zone is ok then I go to the Internet time settings to update the clock and it does that fine. if it were a problem with the internal battery not just the time but the date would have changed also.. I remember that in order to install or get updates for any windows updates I needed to have the time and date accurate. But I has not experienced the same problem just with the time changed now by 8 hrs.

The problem arises because Windows interprets the BIOS time as local time while most Linux distributions interpret it as GMT.

I don't have a solution.

It is best to create a new thread for such questions rather than post in an old existing one.

This happens because Ubuntu uses UTC time by default and Windows does not. Here is the fix:

In Ubuntu navigate to the /etc/default/ folder and scroll down to a file called rsC

Open the file with with a text editor and look for a line that says UTC=yes and edit that line to read UTC=no

Save the file. (You need super user or admin privileges to change the file.)

Close Ubuntu and open Windows. Set your clock to the correct time, date and time zone.

Close Windows and open Ubuntu. Set your clock to the correct time, date and time zone.

Done.
