Windows Time not accurate

I set the time to Internet Time and use WMC to record.
I found that I was missing the beginning of recordings and went to this Website LA Time* What is the current time now in Los Angeles, California, USA?
and saw that I was 2 minutes low.
I set the time according to the above site and all was well, but I find I have to keep adjusting the time every few days.

Is there a different setting I can use to keep the time accurate?

You can choose a different server certainly, but they are all precise, assuming they update correctly.

Right click on the clock in the notification tray lower right> Adjust date/time> Internet time tab> Change settings> Make sure Synchronize with an Internet time server is checked> Pick a server from the drop down and click Update now



But I'd be looking to confirm your CMOS batter is not low on voltage. The CMOS battery keeps the settings for BIOS when the PC is not powered on. Slow time, or wrong date/time are often signs of a failing CMOS battery. If another time server also results in losing time, that will be your next step.

You can also change the intreval that the time updates as a stop gap, but if the battery is failing, you will have to change it eventually or other problems will occur.

Tried the other settings with same result.
The only one that worked (at least temporarily was the link I posted).

Is there a test I can use to check battery status?

Just tried a different server and it's dead on. (time.windows.com)

Nice, you might also confirm the show starts right on time. I can remember shows starting a little early. Unfortunately, unless you can set the recording time manually, it will just start when the show is supposed to start. A Guy

You can start the show before start time and end after in WMC.
I'll check to see, but I know when I set the time manually, the shows were starting at the precise time.
