Where did you get Ultimate? How is it being activated? Do you have a Product Key that came with it? Insert it now at Control Panel>System.

Normally a laptop ships with Home Premium which you own for the life of the laptop, so unless you need them there's no sense in wasting a copy of Ultimate which is the exact same OS but with certain expensive features unlocked. Compare Windows 7 Editions - Windows 7 Forums

Otherwise if Home Premium did indeed ship with the PC and you want to get the $100+ value of that OS which you already own then I would Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 and save Ultimate for another PC.
