I get this message when I check for updates....
"Windows Update cannot currently check for updates because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer"

The Check for Updates option in the Windows Update window, has a red shield with a cross in it, and I get the "Windows Update cannot currently check for updates because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer" message when I click the Check for Updates button.

Coincidentally, Search Indexing is also not working.

I don't know when this all started, but it seems that it may have started when I did a system clone of my original system HDD using AOMEI Backupper Professional Edition 2.2

The new HDD (which is the clone) all works fine as far as I can see, except for the two issues.

I have tried various Microsoft Fixits, Cmd processes as well as SFC, and started services in Services (Local), all to no avail.

Here is the CBS.log , the rest of the contents of the CBS Folder is too large to upload here, but besides CBS.log it contains:

The CBSPersist log shows a failed SP1 install - and the rollback also failed :(
