Windows Update Error 80070308

For the last two weeks I have been unable to install windows updates. When I attempt to install updates the installation process appears to proceed normally cycling through the updates. However, once the process completes all updates are shown to have failed and the following message is displayed:

Code 80070308 Windows Update encountered an unknown error.

You appear to have IOBit software installed - I would suggest attempting to UNDO whatever it's done, and then uninstalling it completely.

As far as Windows Update is concerned...

Try this...
Open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following commands...

REG LOAD HKLM\COMPONENTS C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS
REG DELETE HKLM\COMPONENTS /V PendingRequired


reboot and then attempt Windows Update again.
