Tried running updates with clean boot, failed.

ran SFC /SCANNOW no errors reported.

tried deleting windows updates folder.

also used windows fixit tools still no avail.

I have attached the CBS log.

Any help would be much appreciated.

You have a major registry problem that I've not seen before...
Code:
2014-09-29 23:03:23, Error CSI 00000001 (F) 80220001 [Error,Facility=FACILITY_STATE_MANAGEMENT,Code=1] #1# from LoadStore(target = NULL)
[gle=0x80004005]
2014-09-29 23:03:23, Error CSI 00000123 (F) SMI schema hive could not be loaded. The hive file may be missing or damaged.[gle=0x80004005]
This implies that the SCHEMA registry hive is either missing, damaged, or has been locked.
Let's check the permissions on the folder and file concerned first.

Open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following commands.

ICACLS C:\Windows\System32\SMI\Store\Machine
ICACLS C:\Windows\System32\SMI\Store\Machine\SCHEMA.DAT
ATTRIB C:\Windows\System32\SMI\Store\Machine\SCHEMA.DAT
DIR C:\Windows\System32\SMI\Store\Machine\SCHEMA.*

Post the results

Here are some instructions to make life easier :)
1) To open an Elevated Command Prompt Window (the ECP window), click on Start, All Programs, Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator. Accept the UAC prompt.
2) To run the commands easier, highlight the block of commands, and right-click on the highlight – select Copy. In the CP Window, click on the black/white icon at top left – select Paste. The commands will run but may not complete the last command, so hit the Enter Key once.
3) To copy the results... click on the Black/White icon in the top left, and select Edit... 'Select All', and hit the Enter key - then use Ctrl+V or r-click+Paste to paste it into your response.

Yeah, that is what i wasn't really wanting to hear, but thanks.

Just to clarify Noel, do you know if it is possible to repair install over RDP? as I may have to drive 100 miles otherwise :)

I've never tried it - I'll ask around (but I have vague memories of someone doing it - the problem is the boot after the repair's complete may cause problems, I think)

Hopefully someone will get back to you soon.
