Solved Windows Update error 800B0100 abd 8024200D

So after a clean install of Windows 7 on a new machine I have been having some bizzare problems (printers refusing to print with no errors and bluetooth devices failing to connect with no errors) and I'm hoping that the failure of these windows updates is at the root of it and hoping that I can find a solution, but so far all the google results have done nothing for me. The windows update trouble shooter says it finds and fixes errors, but it makes no progress. The System Update Readiness tools and manually downloading the files also fail. This is a set of about 7 security updates and SP1. I'm crossing my fingers that someone here can help. Below is the log from the SUR and the zip file is attached.

This should be a nice easy fix!

Windows Update Package Replacement

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.


  1. Please download the attached file, Packs.zip and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Right-click on the file and select Extract All...
  3. Tick the box labelled Show extracted files when complete then click Extract
  4. A window will open showing two folders, Manifests and Packages
  5. Open the Manifests folder and copy the files into the following folder (if there are any files)

    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests

  6. Open the Packages folder and copy the files into the following folder (if there are any files)

    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

  7. Run the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) again
  8. When the SURT finishes installing, copy (Ctrl + C) and paste (Ctrl + V) the contents of the SURT log into your next post please:

    C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.persist.log


You will probably be shown the error code 0x8024200D after performing this fix, if so, please download and install the update from this link. It must be downloaded using Internet Explorer.

I did indeed have a 0x8024200D error after running windows update. I then ran the file from your link and rebooted. ran windows update again and succesfully installed KB2345886. But failed on 6 other security updates.

And SP1 which was once a part of the update list is no longer there. Do I have to do this manual update for each of these updates? Will I have to continue to do this manually? At this point would it just be easier to re-install Windows from scratch (as this was a relatively recent install I don't have all that much data to backup)?

Edit:

Another edit. SP1 shows up on my update list, I installed it without problem and now the other security updates no longer show up. I can only assume the problem has been fixed!

Now onto my printer and bluetooth problems!

Did you run the fix I posted for ovulator? I include the warning that Layback Bear mentioned for a reason, the fixes I post for people shouldn't be run by others unless an expert gives you the go ahead.
