Hello forum.

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.

I checked the update log on our computer, and I was really surprised that every update has failed for months.

I tried a manual update, and I got error 80246008.

So I went to Administrative tools >>> Services >>>

And I found that the Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) is missing. Nowhere to be found.

I've already run FixIt and all that jazz. No luck, because it won't finish.

Virus/Malware issue? Where can I go from here?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Having problems. I I pulled psexec.exe from PsTools and put it in System32. Then I ran it from there on command, but when I click on "import" it says "location is not available." BITSWin7 is on the desktop, pulled out of the zip file as a .reg file. It's supposed to show all .reg files on the desktop, and it doesn't show that one.

Ok, I also used the system file checker tool, and of course, the BITS came up corrupted in the log, and was left unrepaired (qmgr.dll). I then opened the command prompt and followed procedure to identify and replace the file, with no luck. It just keeps saying the system "cannot find the file specified" and "cannot find the path specified."

I am trying to get malwarebytes to finish a full scan, to no avail. This is a shared computer, so I obviously haven't kept up with it. I love finding trojans in Java.

I do have the Windows and driver disks. Maybe a clean reinstall after backup?

Yeah, that's what I was leaning toward at this point. Thanks for all your help, though. Clean install on the way....

The computer probably has a back door with big neon signs that say, "Enter" judging from the trojans, etc found.

Thanks!
