Hi
I've been having problems for the past month with .dll files claiming to be missing and it's completely messed up my system, I'm unable to use any function of windows media viewer/player, almost no games on steam work anymore either.

I looked around for ages and tried as much as I could and not a single thing worked, then a few weeks ago I stumbled across my windows update history and found out these updates have continuously failed (Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5, 4.5.1 and 4.5.2 on Windows 7, Vista, Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 x64).

I've seen a very similar post made by nimanouri here about 3 months ago but I'm not entirely sure if my issues are the same, I've run the sfc /scannow and received the message "Windows Resource Protection found some corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them"

I've attached the CBS log file
Thx for any help people can give :)

I've uploaded a file - ty2aa.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel'sOneDrive
Please download and save it.

Right-click on the saved file and select Extract all...

Change the target to C:\ and click on Extract

Close all windows (it would be a good idea to print these instructions!)

Now reboot to the Repair Environment - as soon as the machine restarts, start tapping F8 - this should bring up the Advanced Boot Menu, at the top of which should be the option'Repair my Computer'

Pick that

You'll have to log in with your username and password.

Pick the option to use a Command Prompt

At the prompt type
DIR C:\ty2aa

hit the enter key- if you get a 'Not Found' error try
DIR D:\ty2aa
or
DIR E:\ty2aa

The drive letter in use when you find the folder will need to be substituted (for<drive>)into the following command...

XCOPY <drive>:\ty2aa <drive>:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h

(e.g. XCOPY P:\wfire P:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h )

Run the command (it should take almost no time) and when the prompt returns, type

EXIT

and hit the Enter key to exit Command Prompt - reboot to Normal Mode Windows.

Now run SFC /SCANNOW in an Elevated Command Prompt

then reboot andupload the new CBS.log file to your reply

I just booted up this morning and turns out the stuff you did fix was very helpful, I no longer have any .dll errors popping up, I can play all my games again and everything feels great
I guess the problem isn't completely fixed but a great part of it is thanks to you, I had this problem for over 2 months and it was really getting to me after a while
I can't thank you enough for your help :D

I've uploaded a file - ty2ac.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel'sOneDrive
Please download and save it.

Right-click on the saved file and select Extract all...

Change the target to C:\ and click on Extract

Close all windows (it would be a good idea to print these instructions!)

Now reboot to the Repair Environment - as soon as the machine restarts, start tapping F8 - this should bring up the Advanced Boot Menu, at the top of which should be the option 'Repair my Computer'

Pick that

You'll have to log in with your username and password.

Pick the option to use a Command Prompt

At the prompt type
DIR C:\ty2ac
hit the enter key- if you get a 'Not Found' error try
DIR D:\ty2ac
or
DIR E:\ty2ac

The drive letter in use when you find the folder will need to be substituted (for<drive>)into the following command...

XCOPY <drive>:\ty2ac <drive>:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h

(e.g. XCOPY P:\wfire P:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h )

Run the command (it should take almost no time) and when the prompt returns, type

EXIT
and hit the Enter key to exit Command Prompt - reboot to Normal Mode Windows.

Now run SFC /SCANNOW in an Elevated Command Prompt

then reboot and upload the new CBS.log file to your reply

Do a new Check for Updates, and attempt to install only the oldest update found.
If it goes in OK, try the rest.
If it fails, post the new C:\Windows\windowsupdate.log file.

In that case, all I can suggest is attempting a Repair of the .NET 4.5 installation using the option in the Programs listing, and see if that helps. If not, you may need to uninstall it, run the .NET Cleanup tool, and then reinstall it.
