Windows update error code 800700E

Hi guys,

I've been struggling with this problem for 3 days now. I feel like I'm gonna loose it!!
I hadn't update Windows for a while and now it just freezes on "checking for updates..."
I have a Lenovo 3000 N200 with Windows 7 Ultimate SP1.

I read a lot of posts on the net and tried each and every one of them!
I ran TDSKiller, Malwarebytes, CCcleaner, Avast and SuperAntiSpyware. A trojan horse was found and 4 threats were quarantined.

I tried :
Reset_Windows_Update_History
Reset_Reregister_Windows_Update_Components
WindowsUpdateDiagnostic
ccsetup512
WindowsUpdateAgent-7.6-x86
MicrosoftFixit50362
Windows6.1-KB947821-v34-x86
The clean boot method and renaming the Windows update Software distribution folder
I also tried to remove battery from laptop and keep the "power button" pressed
I also tried the Windows system repair disc (which did absolutely nothing)
The scan in the command prompt does'nt find any problem

Some of these apps "fixed" corrupted files but the problem still isn't solved.

Am I missing anything? What else can I try?

I integrate updates into the installation media before installing to the drive. Avoids that problem.

You could try :

1. Switch to never check for updates.
2. Install IE11-Windows6.1 and KB3102810
3. Reboot

Thanks a lot for the suggestion SIW2, but my computer finally decided to debug the whole thing by itself. So I didn't need to follow the procedure you suggested.

After trying everything I mentioned in my first post (and turning the automatic update on), I waited for the update to start automatically but it never did... until 15 minutes ago!
I shut down my computer many times since 2 days so I really don't understand why it suddenly works, but I just got a notice that 70 new updates were available for download and going to update in the control panel now shows what it is supposed to.

I wish I knew exactly what worked, but if anyone reading this is in the same situation, I guess you could try all the things mentioned in my first post, shut down your computer and wait alteast 2 days for it to automatically show you the updates available!
