We also need the CheckSUR.log file created by running the CheckSUR/SURT tool - even if incomplete, it may give us some clues.

Your SFC scan identified the following problems -

The log file - if it created one - is in the same CBS folder as the CBS.log file
It does sound however, as if it never opened far enough to be able to generate a report.

Conventional wisdom says that this is due to a corrupted SoftwareDistribution folder - I personally don't believe that's the case here, but we'd best try it before moving to more exotic options.

Open an Elevated Command Prompt
Run the following commands

NET STOP WUAUSERV
REN C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution SDOLD
NET START WUAUSERV

reboot
then wait 10 minutes, and open Windows Updates, and run a Check for Updates.

Please don't attempt to install any yet - but try the CheckSUR update again and see if it works now.

If it does, then post the CheckSUR.log file.

If not, then I'll post the fix protocol for the known errors as they stand.

It doesn't work man. It gives same error code 0x8007000d at the beginning of CheckSUR update so there is no CheckSUR.log file. I have a connection problems to the forum about four days by the way.

There's always hope! :)

I'll post a fix for the known problems from the SFC later - and we'll try CheckSUR again after they are safely in.

I've uploaded a file - hlwaa.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
Please download and save it.

Right-click on the saved file and select Extract all...
Change the target to C:\ and click on Extract
Close all windows (it would be a good idea to print these instructions!)

Now reboot to the Repair Environment - as soon as the machine restarts, start tapping F8 - this should bring up the Advanced Boot Menu, at the top of which should be the option 'Repair my Computer'
Pick that
You'll have to log in with your username and password.

Pick the option to use a Command Prompt
At the prompt type
DIR C:\hlwaa
hit the enter key - if you get a 'Not Found' error try
DIR D:\hlwaa
or
DIR E:\hlwaa

The drive letter in use when you find the folder will need to be substituted (for<drive>) into the following command...

XCOPY <drive>:\hlwaa <drive>:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h

(e.g. XCOPY P:\wfire P:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h )

run the command (it should take almost no time) and when the prompt returns, type
EXIT
and hit the Enter key to exit Command Prompt - reboot to Normal Mode Windows.

Now run SFC /SCANNOW in an Elevated Command Prompt
then reboot and upload the new CBS.log file to your reply

This is worrying, as we not only haven't fixed anything apart from two of the files, but new corruptions are appearing.
This usually means one of three things.
1) you have a hardware error - either RAM or Hard drive are the favourites here
2) You have malware which is attacking the system
3) something else (!) - including any error from me...

As far as I can tell, I didn't make any cockups.

Let's check the disk integrity first...

Please run a full CHKDSK scan....
Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-click on the Command Prompt entry
Select Run as Administrator and accept the UAC prompt - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up.
At the Command prompt, type
CHKDSK C: /R
and hit the Enter key.
You will be told that the drive is locked, and the CHKDSK will run at the next boot - hit the Y key, and then reboot.
The CHKDSK will take a few hours depending on the size of the drive, so be patient!
After the CHKDSK has run, Windows should boot normally (possibly after a second auto-reboot).

Then I need to see your Event logs...

Open Event Viewer
click on the Windows logs entry in the left pane to expand it.
Now click on the Application entry - wait while it loads.
Click on 'File' in the menu bar and select Save...
Save the file as Appevt.evtx
Repeat for the System log
then zip both, and upload them.

Yep - The ones in post #11 are the relevant ones - take note of any error messages you get!
