Windows Update error code 800736b3

Hi, I've been receiving error code 800736b3 when trying to install 2 security updates and I don't know what the problem is.

When this happens to me (just did - code 8007038) I install the updates one at a time.
Worked for me.

Don't know if I've done it right but it says 'the system cannot find the file specified' from the second command but the npfiles folder appeared on the desktop

That's OK - I was expecting that, as the 'update' files aren't normally renamed until later in the process.

As far as I can tell, both those files are correct - but I may be looking for the wrong file.

What happens if you attempt to install this update from the download?
Download Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2496898) from Official Microsoft Download Center

...and also this one?
Download Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2957189) from Official Microsoft Download Center

post the new windowsupdate.log file after each attempt, then post the new CBS.log file when you've attempted both.

I'm a little confused at the moment.
I need to dive into this update and see what I can find - unfortunately one of the files referenced is not on my machine at present, so it could take a while.

... I can't believe I haven't asked for this before...

Please run SFC /SCANNOW and post the CBS.log file...

SFC -System File Checker - Instructions
Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-click on the Command Prompt entry
Select Run as Administrator and accept the UAC prompt - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up.
At the Command prompt, type
SFC /SCANNOW
and hit the Enter key
Wait for the scan to finish - make a note of any error messages - and then reboot.

Upload the CBS.log file again
