Hello Everyone. I am new to this forum. I have been searching for a fix to my problem for over a month now. I have been searching through the internet and this forums. Here is the steps I have done so far to try to fix this myself:

1. Turned off firewalls and anti-virus.
2. I have also run in the command prompt the sfc/scannow and no errors are shown.
3. Ran windows update trouble shooter and nothing.
4. Fix the dll's according to another website.
  1. Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.
  2. At the command prompt, type regsvr32 Softpub.dll /s, and then press ENTER.
  3. At the command prompt, type regsvr32 Wintrust.dll /s, and then press ENTER.
  4. At the command prompt, type regsvr32 Initpki.dll /s, and then press ENTER.
  5. At the command prompt, type regsvr32 Mssip32.dll /s, and then press ENTER
5. Downloaded the update manually(64bit version).
6. Also tried this..
  1. net stop wuauserv
  2. cd %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution
  3. ren Download Download.old
  4. net start wuauserv
  5. net stop bits
  6. net start bits
I am running Windows 7 Home Ultimate 64bit, AMD 940Black with 8gb ram. Attached is the checksur files from the systems update readiness tool. I hope someone can help me...

Thanks in Advance,
Bernard

You can also use the following workaround to clear the Windows Updates cache. This will enable you to either retry to install a failed update or hide it the next time it is offered if you don't want to install it.

Open the command prompt window with elevated privileges and run the following commands:

net stop wuauserv

cd\windows

rd /s softwaredistribution

y

net start wuauserv

exit

Thanks for the replies. I have not been able to get on the internet for a few days.

Ok I tried...

You can also use the following workaround to clear the Windows Updates cache. This will enable you to either retry to install a failed update or hide it the next time it is offered if you don't want to install it.

Open the command prompt window with elevated privileges and run the following commands:

net stop wuauserv
cd\windows
rd /s softwaredistribution
y
net start wuauserv
exit

It did not work, still same error.

I have already tried microsoft fixit.

I resetted windows up and still no dice.

The only option now.... re-install Win 7??

In the absence of any other suggestions, it would seem a re-install is the only answer, which is a shame, because we don't like admitting defeat. ;)

Ok guys, thanks for all of your suggestions. I did a install repair(which I was trying to avoid because it could possibly messed up my programs and it is time consuming) and the problem is resolved. I was able to download the SP1 update. Thanks again!
