Hi

System Type x64-based PC
Processor AMD Phenom(tm) II X6 1065T Processor, 2900 Mhz, 6 Core(s), 6 Logical Processor(s)
Im having windows update issues, updates wont download or install. I have tried all the fixits and patches and most of the suggestions I have found on similar posts without success. At the moment I am running
Windows standalone installer, it has been stalled searching for updates on this computer for hours. I have attached a copy of wiondowsupdate.log Any suggestions would be great.

I have the 1st KB3020369 but not the 2nd KB3172605
When I try to install KB3172605, the standalone installer stalls at the searching for updates on this computer pop up. I will let it run a while longer and see if in installs

The MGADiag report implies that the system is non-genuine - the BIOS is dated 2013, two years after Windows 7 Home Premium OEM was last shipped. (It is however possible that the BIOS has been updated from the original, which could be mid 2011).

The SLIC table in the BIOS is for a Notebook computer while this is a desktop - although I don't recall seeing any other SLIC table for an ASUS machine.

Is there a COA sticker on the case? if so, please give the EXACT wording (but please do not post the Product Key!)

I did update the BOS, I bought the PC from BestBuy in 2010 it is the factory OS. I did ad several things i.e ram, SSD, ad a few drives. Everything is righteous, its always had the touchpad component ( I never knew why, perhaps a touchscreen was offer from BB, and I do have a Wacom installed). Updates have been no problem until after the release of win 10. When I did a fresh factory install in May of this year I had a problem with the update from the get go however by using the following procedure I was able to receive updates and all was well until the last group.

1) Download KB3083710 and KB3102810 in advance.
2) Disconnect the computer from the Internet so Windows Update cannotautomatically update itself to 7.6.7600.320.
3) Perform a fresh reload from Recovery Media or Windows 7/64 with SP1RTM.
4) Manually install KB3083710 and restart - WU components will now beversion 7.6.7601.19016 dated 9/25/2015.
5) Manually install KB3102810 and restart - WU components will now beversion 7.6.7601.19046 dated 10/20/2015.
6) Restore the Internet connection and launch Windows Update as normal.

7) After a few minutes, you should have plenty of updates to downloadand install.

I am not sure that both steps 4 and 5 are required, but I didn't wantto mess with success. I hope this savessomeone else some time and effort.

Hi,
Probably the built in windows update service is clashing with the stand alone search.
Restart the machine and make sure the windows update service is not running

Click Start and type in the search box
services
Click on the suggestion or the enter key
All the way at the bottom Windows update.
Note it's setting is probably Auto delayed start.

Double click it and select Stop
Save and now try to run the stand alone installer.

After it installs switch the service back the way it was.
