Windows update has not been able to install new updates for a couple of weeks. I first noticed this after getting a notification in my task tray saying that updates could not automatically install. However, updates will not manually install either.

I get the error "Windows Could not Search for New Updates" and error code 8024402C. (See attached screenshot).

I followed all the instructions in the Windows Update Posting Instructions Thread and have also attached my error log.

Please let me know what can be done to restore automatic updates. Thanks!

If it still fails, please post an MGADiag report - it may show what the problem is, even if the tool isn't strictly applicable here.

Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!

Ignore errors produced when clicking on the Copy button - they simply mean that the tool could not create the backup files for some reason. The data is still copied to the clipboard for pasting to your response.
