If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

Just the one error in CheckSUR...
Code:
Unavailable repair files:
 servicing\packages\WUClient-SelfUpdate-Core~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~en-US~7.6.7600.256.mum
 servicing\packages\WUClient-SelfUpdate-Core~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~en-US~7.6.7600.256.cat

SFC was clear - and no background errors in the CBS.log, at least.
I'll post a fix for the file errors later.

I've uploaded a file - stlaa.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
Please download and save it.
Right-click on the downloaded file, and select Extract all…
Extract to the default location - which will create a new folder stlaa in the same place.
Open this folder - there should be one folders inside it (Packages)

Copy the content of the Packages folder to the folder
C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

Now run the CheckSUR tool again (it may take a while)

Post the new CheckSUR.log file, and the CheckSUR.persist.log file.

Hi Noel,

I have followed your instruction to download the package and run sfc /scannow, and I attached the CBS.zip file for your perusal.

I tried to manually run windows update from control penal, seems like the 800F0900 still happened. Do I need to restart windows and try to update again?

Thanks.

You only posted the CBS.log file - not the CheckSUR log.
I can't even tell whether you ran the CheckSUR tool after copying the files?

Please post the requested data.

Hi Noel,

Ok. I have recopied the package folder into Windows\temp folder and run sfc /scannow. The CBS log folder only contains 1 log file:CBS log file. I can't find the CBS persist file generated. Please refer to my CBS.zip attachment:

I am not sure what procedure that I have missed.

Thanks.

STLai

This is what I'm talking about - CheckSUR rather then SFC/CBS

Please download and save the CheckSUR tool from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821
(you'll need to look in the details for Windows 7, downloading from the Microsoft Download Center)

Run it - The tool can take anywhere from 5 mins to a couple of hours to run (or 'Install') depending on how much it has to do, and may exit silently - it may appear to freeze for most of that time, but be patient.
The result is logged in the C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log file - and an archive …\checksur.persist.log file

Then zip the CheckSUR.log and upload it to your OneDrive Public folder so I can take a look - post a link in your reply.
