Nah :(
The DISM.log file is actually from March this year - it must be a different one to the one you found earlier, and isn't any use to us here ;(

I tried the command prompt and it said it was completed successfully.
Checked for updates. It shows me the same ones in the picture in the first post; tried installing and it failed again.
I noticed only 1 update downloads, and that's the Cumulative something that I reported would "install" and then pop up on the list again.
The other updates are ready for downloading but they never do.

Am I supposed to enter those commands all at once, or am I pressing "Enter" after each one?

Your choice. You can either press enter after each line, or you can copy and paste them all at once, but you will have to press enter once for the last line.

Updates still don't download or install.

I'm not sure if this is relevant, but I just remembered the last "change" I might've done a few weeks before this problem started.

I have 2 hard drives ( C: ) and ( D: ). I was not using D: at all until about a month ago, when I transferred all my Picture folders and Doc folders into D: from C:
Not sure if that may have anything to do with this error, but other than that, I truly cannot think of another change I might've done to my computer...

What did you do to transfer the folders from c: to d:?

I created a Pictures folder and a Documents folder in d: and then selected the files in c: and cut and pasted them to the folder(s) in d:.

That wouldn't have caused the problem.

The next thing to try is:

In the start menu, click "Computer", right click C:, select properties, select the Tools tab, select "Check Now". Ensure "automatically fix file system errors" is enabled, and select Start. When prompted, select "Schedule disk check". Restart the computer.

I did what Troy6 said and after the reboot (after the error checking), this came up.

My desktop is all black, the taskbar is in like old windows style...

was that supposed to happen??

Updates are still not installing.

Hmmm - as far as I know, there should be any subfolder there named Desktop?
The question is - where is that request coming from?

It sounds like you have some serious problems - possibly in the registry, or possibly from the file system. You idea of a clean reinstall (from your PM) sounds more realistic now :(

See the forums Tutorial - here... http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1649-clean-install-windows-7-a.html?ltr=C on how to do it.

NOTE: as well as your data, you need to back up your licenses before attempting the reformat - use Belarc Advisor, or Nirsoft ProduKey for this. - and check that the licenses are correct (some don't actually come out right)

You could also use your computer's Recovery media to do the job - it will return your PC back to its ex-factory state (again, back up data and licences), but may require a lot more updating than a clean install with SP1 media would do (and will also have the manufacturer's bloatware installed, in all likelihood)

I just tried downloading Belarc but it's not downloading. My computer won't gimme the option to click "run, save, save as". I didn't have this problem before performing the last elevated command prompt I was given...

For the disk check, should I checkmark "scan and attempt recovery of bad sectors"?
