windows update help

Every time i install the most recent critical update for windows 7 ultimate; it makes my sidebar gadgets appear "ghost or shadow like". I tried a restore to before it did the update and it seemed to resolve itself; but then it happens all over again when it installs the critical update. Also, ending the sidebar process does not seem to do anything; as when i do that and go into control panel to try and re-enable it; it does not want to re-enable. Where do i go from here? thanks Matt

If restarting the computer doesn't help, then you might see if this may be able to help with the gadgets after installing the updates.

Matt depending on how critical this update is personally I would find out first then if it is not all that critical and then do a system restore.

Then when you get a message that updates are available (I always set them to let me know they are available and let me decide which to download and install) you can right click on that update in the list and Hide it will not then appear or install.

But if you know what KB it is just do a Google to find out how a must have it is.

Thanks everyone. I will try the auto reset batch file when I get home this evening. As
For the critical updates well I usually want to do all
Critical updates as defined by Microsoft because I want my system
To be protected etc.

Matt I still advise you to set the updates to letting you know they are available and I don't know if Brink would agree but what I said about finding out how critical that update is you should do just that before you install it. If the fix you suggests works then it may have been a glitch but the choice is yours.
