Something strange has happened to my laptop since yesterday. I normally hibernate my laptop and about once per week shut it down. Upon rebooting I have noticed two strange things:-
1). When I log in I get the following message: "You have been logged on with the default profile for the system. Please see the event log for details".
Ack, what has happened. I am using my log in and password and it's being accepted, but now I appear to be using some kind of system profile and not my users profile. Therefore, all my shortcuts have gone, I can't log into Outlook because that isn't configured. Trying to work out what has gone wrong and why windows is not logging me in as me. I can still see my users directory and all the files.
Any help on the above would be much appreciated since this is my work laptop and I really need to get this fixed ASAP. I am self employed so I don't have an IT department to turn too
2). Windows update (September 2013) KB890830 seems to be in a continuous loop of installing. Right now I can see it has been installed 9 times and another install waiting for a reboot.

If anyone can advise me how to resolve these issues I would be very grateful indeed.
