Whenever I try to get Windows to install new updates, it acts as if it's installing them but then gets to 15% and switches to another window. Then another screen comes up and tells me "Failure converting changes, reverting changes, Windows will shut down? It will not install Any updates and I'm very concerned about not being up-to-date on security issues, as I have weeks of updates not installed? Please, I tried the MS Fix tool but it didn't work for me. Is there any way around this? If I have to take my into the shop to have them figure out how to d/l it, it will cost me big time and I can't afford it. Thanks!

Try this...it worked for me

OK... did some searching on MS site and this is what you need to do...

The update KB2647753 is the problem child.

1) open up windows update
2) view all of the updates .... uncheck all of them EXCEPT for KB2647753
3) install ONLY that update. reboot upon prompt, wait it out
4) open windows update again, go back to the area where you can check what updates you want installed.... check the remaining boxes and install ... reboot when prompted....

5) I went back into windows updater and confirmed that all of the updates were successful.

YIPPEE! it all worked. This is the first time since getting windows 7 that I have had any problems with updates, so I guess I can't complain too much. Hope it works for all of you - Carl

Fix: Failure configuring windows updates reverting changes (Windows 7)

By Kartik Gupta on August 19, 2012 | From </SPAN>gotechtips.com

I am sure that there are lots of windows users who come across the same problem that I found yesterday on my computer. Though the issue wasn’t very big but still I don’t want my computer to function strangely because it may have bad impacts for the user after a period of time.

So elaborating the issue, yesterday when I was about to turn off my laptop, the system almost started to download various updates on my laptop, thus I waited for a period of time to get it installed on the system. The reason was that from the date when I purchased my new laptop (4 months ago) this is the first time I haven’t turned it off (Yes, silly me).

So the system prompted me that there are around 150 important and optional updates. So when it started installing updates, unexpectedly there was a message showing "failure configuring windows updates reverting changes". I did almost all possible steps for restarting the system. Further the machine also asked me "do not turn off your computer" to booting to Safemode.

· So I would like to share the steps that I followed at that time.

· Restart your PC/laptop

· Keep tapping F8 as soon as see the initialization screen

· Choose Safemode

· Once Safemode is fully loaded, hit Start>type cmd

· Right click on cmd and chose Run as Administrator

· On the Command Prompt screen type sfc /scannow

· When its done, type chkdsk /f/r

· Restart the PC/laptop and boot to Windows as normal

I hope these steps will definitely help you to get rid of from that message so that you can make your system start functioning again. Hit like if it helps you and recommend others as well.
