Windows update, now no recycle bin

Just installed the latest updates, and now my recycle bin's gone. I go to the personalize menu, change desktop icons, and the box is still checked. I uncheck it, recheck, click apply, and still nothing. Can't get any of the other icons (control panel, etc) to show up on the desktop either. Tried rebooting again, no go. Anyone else have this problem with the latest update? Thanks.

no problems here, have you tried doing a system restore? windows should have created one before installing the updates

It's possible it got hidden somehow. A quick way to replace it is with Tweak UI. It'll allow you to choose which icons to show on the desktop which should replace your missing RB.

If you are sure that you made no other changes to your system other than update, you can do the following.

If you have restore points turned on, Windows created a restore point just before installing the updates. Restore your system from that restore point. See if that fixes problem. If it does, then install one update and run your system for a while. If all is ok, install the second. Keep this up until (1) you have installed all updates and found the problem did not repeat or (2) one of the updates causes the problem to repeat. You can then uninstall that update or restore from the restore point and skip that update.

Really....1 at a time???? Do you frequently have so many problems that this is necessary??? Make a quick system image, install all of them...test to see if you have any issues...and if so...then narrow it down.

I did all of the updates tonight without even thinking about it. Worst case, I snap back to last weeks' image.

From everything I could see, the PC was running just fine after these updates. No issues with my Recycle Bin.

Twice since December I have had a problem with an update. The only way I know to sort it out is to install one at a time until I find the offending update.

Huh...I honestly cannot remember the last time that I had an update that actually caused me a problem. Like they say, everyone is different.
