Hi There :) i've seen some threads here about the Windows Update Readiness Tool and that this forum hase some knowledgeable members around. So here i am and thanks for having me..

My problem started with finding out, with trying to activate WXP mode in, my Add\Remove Windows Features wizard showes blank. And while repairing and updating also found out IE11 doesn't install, getting error 0x80070643. So along the way i stumble accross the WUPR tool and a MS Technet tutorial to repair the errors with it. So far so good followed the tutorial and managed to fix the most errors but 1 (See added log)

I just can't seem to find "Package_for_KB2870699~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~10.2.1.0" mum and cat. They are not included in the KB2870699 update, i find Package_1, Package_2, rtm, bf, blabla so on, but just a plain Package_for_.. simply is nowhere to find. Tried installing KB2870699 again, it finisched, but didn't repair. The WUPR tool log stays as is. And IE11 still does not want to install.

Main question is:
Does anyone know under which rock Microsoft is hiding these .mum and .cat file
"Package_for_KB2870699~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~10.2.1.0"?

Thanks a million up front.. :)

You need to rename the 'blind' update.cat and update.mum files from the KB extract appropriately - which the installer does during the process.

If you can't/don't want to do it yourself, let me know and I'll post tehm together with a fix protocol.

I'm intrigued that you dn't appear to have the expected errors from an IE10 install - how/why did you 'fix' it, as there was nothing amiss to fix (it's a coding error that's been carried through to IE11 as well, and is not a problem as such)

NoelDP :D Thanks! It's Solved!.. Had i used the proper expand parameters it would have renamed automaticaly i presume. Bud that didn't work for me for some reason so i went on with Uniextract.
Renamed those 2 files manualy now and ran the rediness tool again, it came back perfect and fixed the errors.

IE11 installed properly now and also the Ad/Remove Windows features are back again.

I dunno what actualy went wrong in the first place, had IE10 already for a while never an error, but don't realy use it. I rather use FireFox the whole idea started with trying to install XP Mode which just doesn't want to show up in start menu. Then i noticed an empty add/remove Windows features wizard and no properly working dism.exe also along the way that IE11 didn't want to install. This is how i found out some was out of place, dunno for how long.

So i stumbled on the Update Rediness Tool and this awsome forum..

Thanks again.

Great! Glad it's fixed :)
Just be aware that you may have problems if you 'overfix' the checksur results ;)

Good luck!
