EDIT: I'm running the SURT now. Will add additional details to this as I have them available.

Hey guys,

Booted up my old computer (Dell XPS 8100) which I haven't used in at least 3 years. Got 22 drivers updated with an external program (Driver Booster 3) as some other forums said that an old driver could be the cause of my Windows Update not working.

But even after the drivers, I am still getting "Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer."

Computer has been restarted multiple times and this has not fixed itself. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Hello and welcome to Win Seven Forum.

In an elevated command type.

net stop wuauserv

Then hit enter.

Then type.

net start wuauserv

Then hit enter.
Re-boot and try.
I would also in an elevated command run a system file check.

sfc /scannow

Hit enter.
