One problem with depending on microsoft updates to get your latest drivers for your computer is that If your ethernet card driver is not active when you finish the install. You can't get to microsoft update.

I would definately create a cdrom or usb stick with the latest motherboard drivers for your system from gigabyte's site. The motherboard drives are very important as well as your video and ethernet card drivers.

I have had problems in the past with microsoft updates for ATI and nVidea graphic drives. Get them from the manufacturers site and you should be fine.

I always have a usb stick with all the drivers necessary for my system..

I have dos 6.22, wfwg 3.11, win98, 2000 and xp VHD's available for testing. MS's Virtual PC works great.
I would follow theog's suggestion.

For specific hardware from third party vendors (e.g., AMD/ATI), I would get my video driver from their site:

ATI Radeon
