This is the error I receive when I click on check for updates.
Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer.
I have restarted to no avail.
I have tried to do a sfc /scannow, and it says:
Beginning system scan. This process will take some time. I let the scan do its thing for 12 hours and nothing happened.
BITS is set at manual.
Trusted Installer i can no longer find in services.
I have ran MS-Fix It to no avail.
I have ran malwarebytes and found these.
pup.bundleinstaller.0i,
Rogue.multiple AV,
Heuristics.reserved.word.exploit,
Adware. Agent
I ran spybot search and destroy and found nothing.
I ran AVG 2012 and found nothing.
I ran Microsoft Security Essentials and found Exploit:Java/cve-2010-0840.nu
and also found Exploit:Java/cve-2011-3544.e Both were removed.
I then uninstalled MSE.
I tried downloading service pack 1 and was unable to download. Failure configuring Service Pack reverting changes do not turn off your computer Error:0xC0000022
I tried System Update Readiness Tool and got the message Installer encountered an error:0xc8000222
Windows defender won't run but I think its because another security program has disabled it.
Any suggestions Thanks

Welcome to our Forum.
Nice post detailing your troubleshooting.

Have you by chance used a Registry Cleaner / Optimizer to clean, repair, boost, tune-up,
tweak or fix your computer?

Your problems are many & varied.
Refer this Tutorial & try SFC again {option 2} to see if it will work.

Did you run a Full System Scan with Malwarebytes?
If not please do so.

TBH If I were in your situation I would do a Clean Install & start afresh.

I had exactly the same issue last week on a brand new computer and a clean install of windows 7 home premium x64, it was caused by an intel ahci or rapid storage technology downloaded from asrock supportl url (ASRock > Products > Motherboard > H55M-LE > Download).

I ended up reformatting and reinstalling windows, this time i didnt install those 2 drivers and windows worked flawless this time.

I have used Free Window Registry Repair and fixed 370 errors.
I also did a full scan with Malwarebytes and posted what i found in my first post.
I just tried the elevated command prompt sfc /scannow and it just says
Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.
The cursor just blinks and nothing happens.
Thanks.
I don't have a windows 7 installation dvd. But i do have a Gateway Backup disc from Jan 24th 2011 and also a recovery disc from Jan 25th 2011.

If i do need the windows 7 installation dvd, how do I acquire it?

The Windows Registry Repair most probably was a contributing factor to your current "mess."

FYI.
Current accepted wisdom with Win 7 is to NOT use a cleaner.

If you ever think your Registry needs to be cleaned, repaired, boosted, tuned-up, cured, tweaked, fixed, or optimized it shouldn't.

In other words, injudicious use of "Registry cleaners" CAN & DOES cause problems.

Should you ever decide to go ahead again -
Make sure you have
1.a current System Restore point created.
2.a recent "Back up" of your computer- preferably to an external HD.

I have used Free Window Registry Repair and fixed 370 errors.

In that case your system is probably terminally hosed - reformat and reinstall.
