Window 7 64 bit system repeatedly fails "Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2667402). The help prompt took me to something entirely unrelated.

All other Windows Updates load properly, but this one keeps poping up as an available update to download.

Machine is a Thinkpad T400 P8700 running at 2.53 GHz, 6 GB RAM, Upgraded SSD.

Thanks,

Solved it. Thanks to my friend the search function and not anyone responding to this thread. :) Went to windows update history and removed the offending update packet completely. Restart. Windows then searches for available and downloads the whole thing. Problem solved.

Windows won't install kb2667402

the answer is simple. sometime in the past the update was installed successfully. for some reason. it is trying to install again. just go back to installed updates and find when it was successful. uninstall it and reinstall it. that's it

NOTHING will help the original poster if they still have the same problem - and your response appears to contribute nothing to the thread.
