Windows Update

My action centre is warning me to update windows. I have Kaspersky Antivirus 2011 installed and updated. and my computer is operating very well. Is it necessary for me to update windows??

Updates patch vulnerabilities (holes) in OS components that can be exploited by hackers, trojans and other nasties. The 0 day patches in fact provide protection that AVs/firewalls cant. At least the critical and important updates are necessary, optional updates can be skipped.

YES! it is very important to keep Windows Updated. You can ignore optional updates unless you really need them but make sure to take the critical and important ones.
