Windows Update?

Hello SevenForums!

Today when I started my machine, I noticed, while I was gaming World of Warcraft, there was like these huge lags. I looked down in the taskbar like a total reflex - And then Windows Update was installing updates.
The update was something like Windows Defender. So I installed it, restarted, and there were even more updates!
This time it was a driver for my new monitor it detected, and a performance update ..etc.

My system is fairly new, HDD is quite active. But I guess that's normal for a new OS.

Event Viewer showed nothing.

Sorry for mistaken.
The problem is that, I am wondering if the lag causes Windows Update installations.
.. Will it cause games etc? Oh, and there were also an .NET update. I found tons of warnings in Even Viewer regarding those.

Windows Update checks for Updates At start up and then every 3 Hours I think after that if Updates were found then it will install them (Depending on your settings)

This shouldn't affect your games but it may, You might want to Change your Windows update to Notify you only

Oh, and there were also an .NET update.

The .NET update/installation has been a major drain on my system resources (several boxes) while it ran. If it ran while you were on line I can understand the sluggish performance.

As others posted, set your update to "notify" only then do them when you wish.

Also Judging by your system It shouldn't have a massive performance Decrease - Does it only happen when you are in the game?

The download could cause a lag.

The installation of the update will definitely cause a lag when playing mid to high end games even with the SSD.

Installation takes priority on the CPU so the game takes the hit in performance temporarily.

Thank you, I'd like to set it so I could check for updates by myself.

Yeah, after all these updates, there were also one optional update. Another .NET. Seemed like it wouldn't install at all. Just hanging at 0%. However, the size was something like 42MB-50.

Kindof, yes. Event Viewer was hanging, but it often does at the very first load because of all those useless tons of warnings.

The download could cause a lag.

I'll try to set the Windows Update settings, so I could check it myself

I'm not at my machine right now, but I was thinking.. I recently installed the Realtek Audio Driver. Could there be something about that?

I have the RealTek chipset, and so far no issues with the driver or it's updates. As others have said, this is mostly an issue with the update installation.

Once all the initial updates are done - SP1 is also a big update - you will only see updates on Tuesdays generally. I would let it install all the updates it likes, over multiple reboots. Then set it to notify only, and you will see only occasional updates, that you can control when you want to install.

It did indeed Seeliewight.

It's kindof obvious isn't? I need to let Windows find all the updates at last, and then the OS should smooth out.
