The recent Windows updates (my install occurred on 8/18) caused my internet connection on my laptop to stop working. Other computers connected to the same modem/router connect fine. I am wondering if anyone knows any changes that the recent updates make that may cause the connection issues? I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. I have Xfinity internet through COMCAST. Their tech support was unable to help me resolve the issue.

I recovered to a backup from 8/13. I have turned off automatic updates until I can get this resolved.

Thanks!

I encountered the same problem with my Acer laptop on Uverse. Did a restore and was able to access then re-ran Windows update and lost access again. Tried to resolve the problem with AT&T, but turned out it wasn't their problem, which it wasn't when I resurrected an old desktop and was able to hit the Internet. So I setup a chat with an Acer rep and he told me to re-run the updates then reload my network driver. I Restored and re-ran Windows Update again and noticed there were only 18 files instead of the original 19 and I was able to access the Internet after the update, did not have to reload my network driver... So I'm wondering if MS found something and dropped one of the original files... Now I need to find out what happened to my Restart, system hangs in the initial bootup... Hope you get it fixed, good luck!!

I was able to identify the problem update by installing 1 at a time. I installed all of the other updates with no issues. I was finally able to successfully install the last update after all the other installs were completed. Thanks for the help.
