If your trying to use the Windows Update that's built into the system, try going to the microsoft.com page where the update is at and installing them from there. It's worked for me in the past.

This error relate to corruption in C:\Windows\Servicing\packages and in C:\Windows\WinSxS

1.Run cmd.exe with administrative previlliges (right click on cmd.exe as admin) and type:

sfc /scannow

when it finish type following command

findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log >%userprofile%\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt

on your desktop appear sfcdetails.txt file

2.Run Readiness Tool Description of the System Update Readiness Tool for Windows Vista, for Windows Server 2008, for Windows 7, and for Windows Server 2008 R2
this tool create CheckSur.log file in C:\Windows\Logs\CBS folder

If you'll have luck both steps solve your problem at once,if not you have to fix manually -in this case attache to post CheckSur.log and sfcdetails.txt

So, I have not been having any luck installing KB976264 with either Windows Update or a physical download of the .exe and attempt install.

I do not have KB976264 installed, I looked.
When I attempt to do a manual install of the update, I get error code: 0xc8000fa

I went through the steps Flavius described above, and I have attached my logs. After running both steps, nothing changed, I still get the error.

I have no other updates that are unable to download or install. I have all other updates as of 04-17-2010.

I'm going nuts here, this has been an issue since this update came out. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

No errors in logs.

1.Uninstall all 3p security software,if you use only build-in firewall check settings and reset firewall to default settings

2.Reset WU components in aggressive mode How do I reset Windows Update components?

3.Reset WU libraries Repair & Fix Windows Updates with Fix WU Utility | The Windows Club

THANK YOU THANK YOU!

I reset the components in normal, then aggressive, just to test the waters. I then reset the libraries...

KB976264 INSTALLED!!!!
I am a happy man right now. I already added to your reputation, but that does not begin to say how happy I am.

I am saving these apps on my "fix other peoples comp" flash drive, and every time I use them I will be adding to your reputation.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!
