Hello all,

I am attempting to finish updating my computer and have been unable to get past 3 updates which keep throwing the same errors. I ran a sfc scan which showed no errors and installed the SURT. I've also attached screenshots and CBS files (in 4 parts because the file was huge).

Hope someone will be able to offer me a solution that doesn't involve a re-install, which is what MS suggests.

Thanks so much.

Hello blackshade mate one check you could do is this

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html< if necessary include the /f switch in the command line as per Option2 if absolutely necessary use the /r switch too

Haven't looked at the files yet so just go ahead with this and see what crops up if anything

It looks to me as if the SoftwareDistribution folder may also be corrupted - but we'll worry about that later.

I'll post a fix protocol for the files above later.

CheckSUR is now happy - if we're lucky, this will be enough to allow the Updates to install.
Do a Check for Updates - try to install ONLY the oldest update found.

If it fails - what error message do you get?
If it installs OK, try the others.

With any luck, this should be fixed by installing from the standalone patch. - please upload your C:\Windows\Windowsupdate.log, and I'll see what else I can find.

Thanks for the heads-up, Colin - there could indeed be a link. I don't think however that anything either of the threads has so far suggested is likely to conflict, and I agree that perhaps AVG and Comodo should be uninstalled (and their respective cleanup tools used) and MSE installed as at least a temporary measure.

My apologies for not mentioning the other thread here... I didn't think the issues were linked.

However, I have taken the advice to uninstall and replace AVG. Comodo is still running currently, but I will uninstall that as well if I continue to have issues. No program is worth all this stress.

In any case, I will download the fix you suggested and follow up later. Thank you again for all your help.

Everything installed correctly and it appears that there are a few more updates. If there are no reasons I shouldn't, I'll download them and see how it goes.
