Windows Updates

I just had to reinstall Windows 7 64 bit.

Does anyone know why Microsoft is leaving a bad update on the update page? When it installs IE 11 my PC goes totally crazy. They have known the problem has existed since last May and still they have NOT fixed. To me that is really dumb.

Now I got that off my chest does anyone know what update from update page actually installs IE 11?? If I knew that I would NOT install IE 11.

Run all of Windows Updates. You should be offered I.E. 11.

So far as I know there are no 'bad' updates present on WU at the moment - it may be a peculiarity of your system.

What symptoms are you seeing?

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data
If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

When I reinstalled Windows 7 64 bit, I did install all the updates. Everything looked great until IE 11 installed. At that point Windows went absolutely crazy. At first I thought it was something I was doing wrong so I called a friend of mine who owns a computer store and is affiliated with Microsoft. He told me that he had been notified that IE 11 had a security problem and to use another browser besides IE 11 until further notice. I also did a search in Bing about the fix for IE 11 and it still has NOT been fixed according to that search.

At present I have reinstalled Windows again, but have NOT ran any of the updates. At present I have IE 8. Right now there are 172 updates to be installed and I have looked at all of them and NONE are listed as IE 11. That is why I am curious as to which of the updates actually contains IE 11 so that I do NOT install it.

IE11 has NO significant security problems - and is currently one of the safest browsers available.

IE11 isn't offered until a number of pre-requisite patches are installed.

A few weeks ago I did two Repair installs.
On both systems I.E. 11 would not install until I properly activated the systems. All other updates installed properly without the activation.
I have no idea why things went this way and it did take some time to figure it out.
I don't know if this is the way it works on all system but it is the way it happened on my two systems.
