Hi, i'm currently running a 64 bit version of Windows Vista, and the university I attend handed out a student-type edition of Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit edition and I was wondering if I am able to upgrade using that disk? Or will it cause a whole bunch of driver problems because of the whole x86 to x64 thing. Thank you in advance.

Hi Jonasfcb.. Welcome to the forums...

Unfortunately you will have to do a clean install, You cant perform an in-place upgrade between 32bit and 64bit versions...

And by clean install do you mean a complete wipe of everything or I will have to go out and buy a copy of Windows 7 from microsoft? Sorry this is the first time i've ever upgraded an OS

Edit- Also so I don't lose out on any memory is there a way to upgrade to 64 after I install 32?
