Windows Vista OEM to retail windows 7

so like the title says, im going from windows vista home basic OEM to retail windows 7 home premium. The problem i have is that i moved the hdd with vista into my new computer which i want windows 7 on. Will i be able to custom or clean install on it cuz of the oem only allowing 1 mobo?

If you are using Win7 Upgrade version then technically under the EULA you should be using it on the machine which the qualifying Vista factory OEM is legally licensed for.

That said, this is all on the honor system since you can clean install Win7 Upgrade version using the workarounds which theog posted above. But you should have another qualifying OS to use Upgrade version.
